Large George II sterling caster, Samuel Wood, London, England, 1750-51, having pierced cover with six alternating panels of scrolls and simulated lattice design, the bulbous body with seamed cover, and round molded foot. Engraved crest on body of spread winged eagle with sprig in its beak, engraved letter ''M'' in block lettering inside foot. Fully hallmarked under base, with maker's mark ''SW'' in shaped punch, and cover flange marked with lion passant and partial ''SW''. Old repair inside one panel of cover. 7-1/2''h. Total approximate weight 5.8 troy oz. Provenance: Gebelein, 1965.
