Rare 18th century American basting spoon, Samuel Tingley, New York City, NY, circa 1770, having slightly upturned bowl, beautifully designed raised and pointed double molded bowl drop, a tapering upturned handle with well-defined midrib. Engraved block letter monogram ''TIS'' with small sunburst between letters on back of handle. Three maker's marks ''ST'' with serifs on back of handle. 14-5/8''l. Total approximate weight 6.8 troy oz. Provenance: Gebelein, 1975.
