The Chapman-Pearson Family footed salver, of historic Virginia interest, John Swift, London, England, 1749-50, together with a rare 19th century tintype of this salver that descended in the family. The salver with a piecrust border punctuated by six Rococo shell motifs, resting on three opposing scroll legs and pad feet. The center is engraved with the family crest of Chapman impaling Pearson of Summer Hill Plantation, Arlington County, Virginia. Fully hallmarked on the bottom. Legs have old reinforcements. 1-1/4''h, 9-3/4''dia. Total approximate weight 15.7 troy oz. Note: This salver is documented by both the rare survival of the family tintype and a picture of the Chapman Family silver in ''The History of the Alexander and Chapman Family in Virginia,'' by Sigismunda Mary Frances Chapman, 1946, Madison, WI: Dietz Printing Company.
